Guest guest
Just my 2 cents,Ken. Clinic supervision. We had Excellent instruction in the classroom, but in the clinic , the supervisors were generally folks 4-5 years out of school, and their academic level was actually lower than many of the interns. Plus , each supervisor had a different opinion on the dx and tx, so what was i to believe? I put out the vibe.., Im fine, leave me alone, and made my own decisions. they were happy to sign off. Plus, during the observation phase we were observing other students... not too helpful in needling technique. I see the value in senior faculty helping us Understand the textbook to prepare for the nat'l boards. but a proper DX is paramount to TX , clearly. Im still shooting in the dark (in the right direction, i hope) after 3 years in the field. when a senior chinese doc was on a shift, I then asked a lot of questions, and learned a lot. Now as to herbs, I find that many students are so concerned with passing the acu boards, that they dont even bother to take the herb test. furthermore, in practice, they just sell patents to pts to make a little more income and help the pt a little. so herbology education is lost for the most part. this is how i see it, and so i plan on returning to china for some good clinical guidance and herbal training. hope this helps, Skip
