Guest guest
irascible indeed! ira - is latin meaning wrath irascible is also french, as your name PJ Are you french speaking? Anyway, the meaning in french is the same as in english: Easily getting angry is there a consequent latinisation of the english language? let's see how " latin/french -english " would look in the seven emotions (qiqing): irascible voluptuous sollicitable or maybe soliloquisible ? cogitatible ? maerorible ? timorible ? pavorible ? ? (I don't have the oxford or the webster or Roget at hand here, but I don't remember reading those words in them when I read them once) So please remind me if I just forgot does all these words exist in the Oxford dictionary? or maybe the first two only? and if so, what does this mean? Maybe the symptoms of imbalance shows up more in hepaticus and cardialis in the english culture? Showing more irascibility and voluptuousness? Dr. Keikobad, here is a language clue to your inquiry into the geographic/socio-political 5-elemental thinking. Guest guest
Yes, I am french (nobody is perfect!) and I am always keen on learning more about the subtleties of the english language. People with a limited vocabulary may find difficulties in expressing what they want to say. In my view, all knowledge is to be shared for the benefit of all. I thought that sometimes in this list, some of the contributors were becoming a little bit pedantic, hence my slightly sarcastic Email. I hope I am forgiven for my sarcasms and that the message has been received. As for anger, I view it as a flow of Chi; Creativity could also be called irritability; just as a child discover new things, he/she becomes stimulated or irritable. If this creative stimulation is frustrated, it become anger (or irascibility) anger is a stronger flow of chi, it indicate that the person feels something need to be done. If the anger has no outlet and has to be repressed, it turn inward and becomes depression. Guest guest
Pierre jean cousin : > Yes, I am french (nobody is perfect!) and I am always keen on learning > more about the subtleties of the english language. I have found that the people that rediscover and reinvent the subtleties in swedish are often not born or grown up in Sweden. So it may very well be perfect that you are french with that apetite of yours. ; - ) > People with a limited vocabulary may find difficulties in expressing > what they want to say. D'accord, and it is also true that people with a limited vocabulary may find it difficult to understand someone with more distinctions in language. It is great with the tension between those positions, especially when they meet in understanding. English as such is limited and it's dominating position has to be balanced with us learning more languages, like french or hindi or chinese or italian.... or even swedish. n'est pas? I invented these other latin-english words to show that english is limited. > > In my view, all knowledge is to be shared for the benefit of all. > I thought that sometimes in this list, some of the contributors were > becoming a little bit pedantic, hence my slightly sarcastic Email. > I hope I am forgiven for my sarcasms and that the message has been > received. > Sarcasm is never funny. It does not suite anyone. I recommend we don't use it publicly. We all have much to great things to share than to spend time on that. > > As for anger, I view it as a flow of Chi; > Creativity could also be called irritability; just as a child discover > new things, he/she becomes stimulated or irritable. > If this creative stimulation is frustrated, it become anger (or > irascibility) anger is a stronger flow of chi, it indicate that the > person feels something need to be done. > If the anger has no outlet and has to be repressed, it turn inward and > becomes depression. > The subtleties of GAN qi are very interesting. IMO all emotions play a part in creativity and GAN qi is one of these aspects. I question if it is wise to mix the meaning of irritability with the meaning of creativity. But I agree on them being connected, just as responsibility is connected with creativity. And I see your point of unexpressed anger (or creativity) turning inward and becoming destructive to the system. Building on that I would like to invite everyone on the list to share their view on ira - or anger - from looking at it newly with fresh (or french ;-) ) eyes. Here is my fresh take on it: Irritability has the same root as irascible - ira, (anger or wrath). It has to me some quality of aggressiveness with the meaning of moving forward, challenging or attacking. When a wound is irritated, there is a war between the pathogens and the defense militia attacking the invaders. Maybe aggressiveness is nescessary for creativity, just as willpower, or lust, and other emotions. Zhi qi - from Kidney gives the strength to the energy in Gan. Gan is accelerating it, taking it on, building momentum, challenging the opposition, the difficulties. The wisdom of Po is guiding Gan it so it don't get to out of focus, to disperse or destructive. Po will remind Gan to breath and find a rythm. ( " Stay in the flow " Po will wisper). Gan may refuse to listen to Po, but in the end Gan will loose power when it can't breath with Po. ... I let the end hang loose here............. Warm regards Holger
