Guest guest
Hi Marie, As acupuncturists many of us pride ourselves on spending time with our patients, this is in contrast to the 3 - 5 minutes that a western doctor usually spends with patients. Which ever acupuncture tools we use we are in the people business. This means that as healers we need to be like pianos, capable of playing all the emotional key notes available without getting stuck on any one note. A 5E acupuncturist is no more qualified than a TCM in this respect. And it behoves all of us to spend time either in counselling or psychotherapy courses. A trainee acupuncturist came to my practice a while back. Within 15 minutes of talking we touched on raw emotional issues. Her impulse was to walk out of my clinic 'to spare me seeing her cry'. Without her experiece of crying with my support, She would one day go out into the 'Field' and possibly suppress her patient's needs to express themselves. One does not need to be a psychotherapist or a cousellor to be an efective acupuncturist but there is no doubt that feeling at home with all maner of emotional expression helps us to do a better job. It is my experience that when we do 'efective' acupuncture we restructure the physiology and release unexpressed / unacknoledged emotions. this has the effect of bringing comfort, serenety and greater self awareness as well as less pain etc., However, Our psyche will not allow us to experience greater emotional trauma than we have the capacity to experience at any given moment in time. so there is always a fail safe device. I do have one caveat in this respect based on observation. 'Wrong treatments' Do have the capacity to open the pandora's box of our subconscious, bringing to the surface trauma that we are not ready for. And in my experience 5 E practitioners are more likely to err in this manner. When this outcome occurs I have oftern heard it say The patient is experiencing ' healing crisis' sadly this is seldom so. salvador >Hi, > >This raises a question that I have been puzzling over, as I try to >understand more about Five Element acupuncture.
