Well....the figures/facts don't show that. I think it is important that people matriculating to the CM schools understand that there is a more to a bright future than just an education. I may be repeating myself -- exuse me if I am repeating this -- but I have read several hundred student " business plans " during eight years of teaching in the 1980's and only a small portion of those plans showed the entrepreneurial realism it takes to succeed when one must simultaenously master clinical skills and develop a small business. I personally believe that an internship transition between school and self- employment as an independent clinician would be of great benefit to people's survival in practice. > Additionally when addressing tax data........to a certain degree it > reflects the poor state of affairs of the profession plus not everyone > follows IRS SIC code guidelines so I wouldn;t rely on that raw data more > then generically. Yes, I believe you are correct. That is also probably why physicians are over-represented in the data, they are more likely to have professional accounting help. I would hesitate to draw hard-and-fast conclusions from these statistics but it is clear they are not cause for celebration. Bob bob Paradigm Publications www.paradigm-pubs.com P.O.
