Guest guest
The colds are colds, i.e. wind, usually wind-heat, though sometimes wind-cold turning into wind heat. What happens is when the cold gets better, as soon as -- as in the day after -- tonification begins, a new cold develops. This can happen if tonification begins immediately, or if it begins weeks after the last cold. These colds aren't allergies. Unless by " allergies " you mean a cold. They are acute, accompanied by achiness or sore throat, sneezing, coughing, fatigue, and last only a few days to a week. It also doesn't seem to matter what sort of tonification I do. Spleen Qi, Blood, Kidney Yang -- it all seems to start the viral infection process again. Benjamin Hawes, MAOM, Lic. Ac., CORTEZ FAMILY ACUPUNCTURE 1430 E. What are these 'colds' like? You don't mention Wind, and expelling Wind (eg cupping Bl-11/12). Is there also the possibility of the colds being more like allergic rhinitis or asthma rather than full-blown viral infections? If so, I'm reminded of the Giovanni theory of the Lu-Kid relationship where a constitutional weakness of the Kidney is responsible. Guest guest
Hello Benjamin My inclination would be to not do ANY tonification at all, for at least the next few treatments. Perhaps what is required to a greater degree with this patient is to clear (i.e. reduce/sedate) any and all pathogens that may be present. I have found that clearing, even if there are no apparent cold/flu symptoms, is necessary in these cases. Wei Qi will strengthen when the pathogens are no longer obstructing. Moxa on St36 helps, watching of course the degree of heat that may already be present. Hope this helps. Best wishes Persis --- Benjamin Hawes <ben_laura wrote: The colds are colds, i.e. wind, usually wind-heat, though sometimes wind-cold turning into wind heat. Guest guest
Have you tried Xiao Chai Hu Tang? Often getting into the Shao Yang can clear the pathogens that lie hidden. Just a thought. doug Chinese Medicine , " Benjamin Hawes " <ben_laura@n...> wrote: > The colds are colds, i.e. wind, usually wind-heat, though sometimes > wind-cold turning into wind heat.
