Guest guest
It is very interesting to me over the years that several groups have copyrighted their reflexology points so that no one else could reproduce those points and claim they were this or that.... as if they owned the only right to knowledge of healing in that way. Our people who copyright information in an anatomy book so that you can't say the muscles origin or insertion is this.... because they " Own the rights " to the information. If this information is true for everyone then... that's kinda stupid isn't it? Years ago the AMA made it so that those doctors who didn't practise medicine in their chosen format were not allow to do medicine. Part of this had to do with a closely guarded secret, if you wash your hands before you deliver a baby the mother has a better chance of survival. Personally I find all these people to be a disgrace to medicine, yet I understand if someone makes a discovery they want to be credited for it. The one does not have to be exclusive of the other, but Western thinking would try to make it so. I have a quote that I use alot. " The world is an IQ test, don't judge others too harsh, as we all are failing most of the time. " (in something). I am sure you all have catch phrases, some of them you created others, ones you picked up along the way.... No one can honestly expect humans can carry around a bibliography of every influence to their perceptions, but trying to give credit where it is due is polite, it shows respect, and it defers to the knowledge/wisdom of another. I don't know if I quoted this person the other day but when we were talking about the prostrate I remembered someone had said that when referring to the Kidneys this wasn't the organ the kidneys per se but a set of functions. I don't know if I repeated or not because I didn't remember if my source was someone here or someone I read, but I think it came from here. Thing is, did they get it some where else? Asian Culture does this kind of Copyright notice in the form of Ancestor worship.... This is the marital art teaching of sifu this, or Sensei this, and their teacher was this person, whose teacher was this person, etc, etc. You can be sure someone gets left out of the stew pot. I think it would be polite that if you remember where a quote came from you ask for permission to quote the person, Or ask where they got the quote from. I think most people are polite when asked nicely. If you see something I write that is worthwhile then you might ask, hey did you come up with that, and I might have multiply points of reference and I just kinda threw 'em together to add it up without concious thought, but everyone likes that bit of a stroke to their ego. The attention also might lead to being able to get more work in their chosen field, as a person of knowledge or wisdom. Most issue people have that result in conflict have to do with respect and protection of teritory (phyical or mental) of which we might not even hold dominion. I don't think anybody here would be silly enough to try and copyright all the accupunture or accupressure points.... Although, it amazes me that these scientific institues would copyright their mapping of dna. As if they created it! If I ever put out a book and would like to quote something I will be sure to ask and can only request the same courtesy likewise. I do not wish to cause harm to you nor to refuse care to any client I might have. If you have stated some great knowledge and you don't want it circulated (credit or not) I might think you need to explain the reason to that. Private client information is just that, and so this is why I haven't seen most people referring to names merely condition, but if I refer to a client I will usually ask them for an email saying, " I don't mind you talking to people about the results you got when working on me.... " Gossip, arguements, and such.... should definately not travel without written consent. This is how I feel, perhaps others do not feel the same please let me know. I appreciate all the wisdom and knowlege and the time people take here. Thank you. M C Markman The New with improved product search
