They could be shortened to " Live, and let live " - in ideas as well as material life. Not only may Points and Channels be illusions, but some philosophers suggest that much of what we take as " reality " in life is a grand illusion also. That said, we ALL need " frames of reference " within which to think, plan and act. Therefore, IMO, it is most useful to learn/teach the classical points & channel system. As Richard has said, the Channels [all, or only one continuous Channel?] are as REAL as most other aspects of medicine. They are ery useful concepts, as illustrated time and time again in clinical practice. Without a Channel concept, how could one attempt to explain how a keloid in the outer BL line could trigger multiple S & Ss involving SI- BL-KI, as detailed by me in an earlier post? And how treating the sensitive points on that keloid [plus a few sessions of physio/massage of the sacr and the BL Channel] could wipe out S & Ss that had existed for years? I have great respect for Mann's contribution to the development of medical AP in the west. But I see Mann, as I see myself, as one of the Blind Men who bumped up against the sleeping elephant and then tried to explain what they [we] had experienced. PS: Without a Points & Channel [and Six-Level] Concept, how could we attempt to explain how needlling near left LI11 could possibly treat pain in the right ST35 area? How could needling ST45 treat eyepain? How could needling LU08 [LU Yuan Point] + LI06 [Passage Point of LU] help in chronic LU disease? IMO, it behoves all of us who try to use AP to relieve pain or suffering in humans or animals must learn the traditional [well tried] concepts, and THEN develop our OWN ways of working, and buid on our feedback [personal experiences] in using them. IMO, it is a great mistake to become " locked into " an inflexible system [traditional or otherwise], especially if we find that it does not work in our own experience. Guest guest
Hi Phil, Thank you for your compliment... in truth, I think I was inspired by the birth of our first foal for the season. The little filly came in at 9.00am from a maiden mare, and we were able to share her entire entry into the world. Just such a miracle and a joy to watch.
