Guest guest
hi everyone a few questions all related to person suffering from depression does a difference in sight (short sighted in left eye, long-sighted in right eye) point to a particular organ imbalance? (he suffers from Tourette's syndrome too) does gambling fall into the category of cravings in the 7 emotions that injure the zang? Is there a particular ear point prescription for this form of addiction? does cigar smoking (30 per week) affect the lungs in the same way that cigarretes do? has anyone experience in treating long-term depression derived from being bullied at school? what would a low self-esteem derived from this kind of experience affect in terms of TCM? the guy has a great deal of repressed anger (LIV qi stagnation). He's been 6 years on medication (fluphenazine & escitalopram) and side effects mask & mix with symptoms of depression. he's never been treated with acupuncture so I was thinking of starting with a few points prescription to see how he responds and treat accordingly. What suggestions could I give him in terms of lifestyle? Has anyone ever treated a heavy gambler? I'd love to hear your suggestions as this is my first patient in the school clinic! and I feel a bit concerned about his mental state (he's got suicidal tendencies). thanks :-) Monica _______________ Stay in touch with absent friends - get MSN Messenger http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger
Guest guest
Dear Monica, Let someone else deal with him. Patients like the one you describe need long term counseling and treatment. This patient needs healing in deeper layers of his being than you'll be able to deal with in student clinic. 30 cigars per week?, Tourette's syndrome? fluphenazine & escitalopram? suicidal tendencies? If I were the clinic director I would not give you him as your first patient. Guest guest
Dear Fernando, In the " for what it's worth " column, I always open your rare posts first with eager anticipation. Thank you for taking the time to post on this site. Always such a pleasure to hear from you. By the way, about 250 physiology students have now meditated on your response to Ken Rose's question of what's the difference between Zheng Qi and Xie Xi. Your comments are such a nice way to introduce the topic of homeostasis in it's most general terms ... from cellular all the way up to systemic and even considering psychological themes of good stress versus bad stress. The latter involves ways in which Zheng Qi may be tonified or depleted. Your response below is yet another example. In gratitude, Emmanuel Segmen Merritt College, Asia Natural - fernando b.
