Guest guest
Dear Mr. Malooney Ethics? Yes, you are right and very questionable ethics to say the least. Doctoral 'level' education? That which is still NOT available to the profession unless of course one considers a 'non-PhD-research degree' as basic doctor entry level AND wishes to go into research which 99% of the 'qualified practicitioners'....do NOT. Actually, I like your suggestion and will certainly seriously consider taking you up on it regarding creating a REAL...DOM peer reviwed credential for ONLY those who are 'qualified AP/OM practitioners'. Does the AAOM wish to give it's full legal permission and turn over all rights (assuming their are no problems, nothing outstanding, and, of course, that the pschometric consultant also approves) to AOMNC???? You are right - this IS our last communication regarding these issues. Maybe 'qualified practitioners' around the world will come to SEE what has transpired over the years from 1970 to present. As to 'non-for-profit entities' and 'for-profit entities'......there are ethics and either kind of organization can be quite ethical OR unethical. And another resounding... YES....joining AOMNC does not and is never intended to EVER cost the member ANY money and yet from time to time where and when appropriate....AOMNC will in fact make a reasonable profit. AOMNC this past weekend sponsored a very large turnout for Florida 'qualified practitioners' to complete their mandatory continuing education requirements for licensure renewal and we DID in fact charge a FEE of only $135 for the whole weekend compared to all the others that were offering courses charging upwards to $300 for the same. I have no qualms about making money BUT there are times, places and ethics involved. I also have no problem with FULLY trained MDs administering acupuncture. But your definitin of 'fully trained' and mine most likely greatly differ. Since you feel there is no reason to further this conversation......I will tell you my definition of a well-trained MD. Education consisting of at least 1,725 hours which does not include the additional 450 hours to work in materia medica which would bring it to the very basic entry level of 2,175 hours.
