Indeed I have the view that Chinese medicine should never need to be " proven " by Western science. I've argued on this list and elsewhere for people to understand the strengths of each paradigm. It's my opinion that CM has more to offer WM than the other way around as CM is a much more mature and stable science. But I digress from your point. Here in the U.S. there are masters degree programs and soon to be doctoral programs. In addition there are short courses for M.D.s. All of this seems to be creating a ton of controversy. I feel in the long run people will learn to tell the difference. In the short run, the true experts will find it frustrating and some of the patients will suffer from lack of proper care. Having said that, I can still see the larger goal of having the paradigm of Chinese medicine present and flourishing in North America and Europe where it has not previously flourished. That is a huge benefit that will endure many twists and turns along the road. I tend to take the long view on things. I'm a long distance runner who happily runs 12 or 16 miles on a sunny Saturday morning. I plan entire seasons ahead to accomplish my goals. I also believe that the strongest will prevail. The strongest thing you can do is to lend a helping hand ... no matter what the consequences.
