Cancer, genetics, environment and the Ko Cycle

Hi All,

 

I'm no expert in TCM, immunology or cancer, so I am swimming

into deep water in commenting here. But here goes - a few

thoughts on Qi, the Ko Cycle and cancer! I await your expert

criticism.

Are Thoresen is preparing a paper on his results in treating cancer

in humans and animals. He can fill in the details but I would like to

summarise my views on cancer, based very much on Are's ideas,

supplemented with general concepts gleaned from Chinese and

Western medicine.

 

Normal body cells grow, multiply and die in an orderly and

controlled way. As in all of life, cell death is NORMAL, indeed

essential. It allows for the growth and development of new

individuals (and cells).

 

Are sees cancer as " Lack of Control " of NORMAL growth &

senescence patterns of cells. Uncontrolled cells multiply faster,

and may live longer, than normal cells. The end result is tumour

formation - cancer. The greater the lack of control, the more

irregular and malignant the cancer.

 

Many factors can predispose to, or trigger, this lack of control.

Some important ones are: genetic predisposition; chronic trauma,

ulcers, irritation of organic cells; environmental (carcinogenic

toxins, radiation, EMFs, geopathic radiation, etc); dietary

imbalances (inadequate nutrients, such as selenium, Vit E and

other antioxidants, for an effective free-radical scavenging system;

negative mental/emotional factors (severe bereavement, grief,

trauma, depression, etc); negative spiritual factors (? " Evil Eye " ,

psychospiritual attack, etc), etc.

 

However, IMMUNOSUPPRESSION is a factor in most cancers.

The immune system is the major part of the " Cancer-Control "

system.

 

The Cancer-Control aspect of the immune system has two major

parts: (a) Organ-Specific immunity and (b) general systemic

immunity.

 

TCM teaches that Weiqi is the major Defence System against

External attack.

 

TCM also teaches that healthy, circulating Weiqi depends on

general healthy flow of Qi-Xue and on heathy function of ALL the

main Zangfu:

 

LU (governs respiration and its Biointerface, and the skin/pores;

good LU function is essential for maximal oxygenation of blood); LI

(governs the large intestine - a part of the Biointerface); ST (governs

the oespohagus and stomach); SP (governs general digestion &

Transformation & Transport; holds blood in the vessels and

therefore important in blood circulation); HT (governs the Vessels

and blood movement); SI (governs small intestine and its

Biointerface); BL (Qi-Mother of KI); KI (governs Mingmen Fire,

grasping LU Qi, general Yuanqi and Jing; Jing governs growth

(including cell growth); PC (protects HT function);

TH (sanjiao - involved in all metabolic processes); GB (Qi-Mother of

LV; LV (governs Qi movement, stores and moves blood, governs

sinews & body movement (and thereby, also blood movement).

 

Xue-Blood is necessary for effective Qi circulation. Any serious

dysfunction of the main Zangfu can impact on the free flow of Qi-

Xue, and, indirectly on Weiqi. Healthy flow of Qi-Xue is also

necessary for healthy organ function, including the normal " spirit

functions " of those organs. Qi Stasis, Xue Stasis, or organic

trauma (which can cause Xue Stasis, at least), disrupts normal

Zangfu functions, one of which is the Ko-Controlling function.

 

Are's first attempt to treat cancer was in a dachshund with

mammary cancer - multiple tumours along the nipple line and

probable secondaries in LU - the dog was dyspnoeic. ST Channel

passes through the nipple line. He argued that LV Channel

Controls the ST Channel-Organ System, and he needled LV03

(Earth Point). In a few weeks the tumours had disappeared almost

completely. The dog died several years later from KI deficiency.

 

After treating 500-600 cancer cases with very good results in the

past 9 years, Are teaches that the Grandfather-Grandson Cycle

(Ko-Controlling Cycle) is the KEY Cancer-Control mechanism. Are

first diagnoses WHICH Channel is the main ine passing through

the cancerous organ or area. Then he uses only the Yin Channel

that Controls the affected Channel.

 

IMO, Are's work is of great importance. It deserves international

recognition, if only to stimulate others to repeat his work to verify or

refute it.

 

But Are's work triggers an even more fundamental concept: Could

diseases like cancer, and other diseases involving LOSS of KO

CONTROL, be prevented by common-sense action to ensure good

Weiqi and free circulation of Qi-Xue, as TCM has taught for

millennia?

 

Knowing that we all must die sometime, of accident or some

disease, my gut says yes!
