Lon: I dont think the mind can be free from knowledge. However consciousness does get to choose its relationship to knowledge. Consciousness can choose to not identify with what the mind *already knows* and to remain open and unencumbered by the past. Knowing is not a problem. Consciousness (in the particular way you use it here)is like an open limitless field. Not of time, not of space. The mind that deals with knowledge is a much smaller limited field within. I include any notions about the nature of the dimension of the field, we as humans, inhabit, as "harmful knowledge". Although not worded it is like a background conviction that assumes one knows what one is. Many times this "conviction" is not seen as ego - and that is why I don't like that word. In fact ego is an ever-changing set of convictions. It seems one doesn't see there is an assumed inner center acting there... perhaps it is not even possible to identify it like that... but the effects.
