Spirit is 4 dimensional and the mind cannot contain it. When mind is not teathered by ego, the spirit is liberated and directs life. In such a discussion (which I've only experienced in person and never via list serves) one experiences the other's interior. One literally sees one's self stairing back through the other's eyes. The general experience of those involved in such a discussion is that new structures emerge in consciousness (consciousness itself evolves) as each person describes what the perspective of consciousness (the only one consciousness in this entire universe) sees as it looks through them uncolored by the limitation of their own minds. This is what I understand integral consciousness to be. To sum, when " I " am gone then consciousness can express through me and I am One ( " integrated " ) with the only One consciousness there is. Hence integrity (integral) manifests as the subject/object distinction subsides.

I will yield to your nomenclature for the sake of clarity. My dislike for "spirit" is its eventual religious or philosophical connotations. But we are free of them. Lon> When mind is not tethered by ego, the spirit is liberated and directs life. geo> I would use slightly different expression - still with your nomenclature: When the mind is free of knowledge, free of the known, then it is one with the spirit. It would be interesting to ask the following: "what is the difference between that former mind tethered by ego and this other mind that is not tethered anymore? Lon> The general experience of those involved in such a discussion is that new structures emerge in consciousness (consciousness itself evolves) as each person describes what the perspective of consciousness (the only one consciousness in this entire universe) sees as it looks through them uncolored by the limitation of their own minds. If yes one is tempted to ask: can the very spirit evolve? If it is not the spirit, in which way consciousness differ from mind - in your usage of the expressions? You see... nomenclature.
