Another thought about Duke's relating all the channel system with circulation. For example, he describes the Chong (thoroughfare vessel) as the aorta. The descriptions of the chong in neijing and nanjing have the chong mai rise up which probably means circulation within it is in a superior direction. The aorta arises from the heart with circulation going inferiorly. Duke claims that the extra vessels are described to account for the larger amount of venus system as compared to the arterial system which he says explains the function of the extra vessels of storing the over-run of blood (i.e. flooding). If the Chinese understood the circulatory system is being a closed system, how can an over-fun or flood be explained?

Also, since all the descriptions take the images of rivers and the sea, why would a close system be applicable?

hi, if chinese considered circulatory system as a

closed system then flooding may be realated to high

blood pressure either already there or coming on in

the energic sense. worrth loking at that angle & see

what the corelation may be .
