I have not studied the roles of lipoic acid in neuropathy, or its antioxidant effects. However, Se supplements (especially Selplex (Alltech, Lexington, KY - Se incorporated into yeast cells in special fermenters; recommended dose 200 micrograms/d, but I take up to 800 mcg/d for periods of 1-2 weeks) and Vit E are also good antioxidants. Se is an essential element in GSH-Px (glutathione peroxidase), which mops up free radicals, especially peroxides. Note that Chinese/Japanese herbals have meny potent antioxidants, some of which have >1000 times the potency of Vit E.
