I'm based in London UK. > Many thanks Anniex IMO, it is grossly unprofessional, if not unethical, for a practitioner who does not know the sites, nature and extent of neuropathology to claim that 8 acupuncture treatments can " cure " peripheral neuropathy. Prognosis in AP depends on the degree and nature of organic pathology. Yes, some functional neuropathies respond well to AP, but if there is serious organic damage, the success rates are (IMO) very poor. That said, you might TRY to help the patient by selecting acupoints for the affected area(s), and adding Scalp- or Ear- Points for those areas. For Cookbook Points for the main body areas/common conditions, see: http://homepage.eircom.net/~progers/ff.htm I would suggest 4-6 AP sessions at intervals of 1 week, with DIY Moxa at points chosen by you 1-2 times/week between AP sessions. If there is no great improvement within 5 weeks, the prognosis (IMO) is very poor and I would refer the case back to specialists in HIV/neurology. .. But if it involves the hands/face, what then? If it is a central (brain) or spinal organic lesion rather than a peripheral phenomenon, what then? Well worth getting considering the epidemic of diabetes we will encounter. I have used recently a variation of a formula for a 94 year old diabetic. You might want to start with a formula like Yi Qi Zhu Yu Mai Tang (Boost the Qi, Dispel Stasis & Free the Flow of the Vessels) or Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang or Yi Qi Yang Yin Huo Xue Tang. For the most part you will note the high dose of Huang Qi but it really depends on your pattern identification.
