Guest guest
I have had patients actually tell me they prefer not to see someone in a white coat. (When I worked in a lab at a clinic, I was told this also). As I mentioned before, I am not a terribly conventional dresser, but I do not think it has taken away from my presentation/realtionship with my patients. As a person and patient, I do not automatically trust anyone in a white coat. But then, I have worked in hospitals too long to make that mistake. LOL MD, nuse, phlebotomist or otherwise .... they are people in a white coat (emphasis on "people:). Some you can trust and others you cannot (and indeed, should not). It is personal choice
Guest guest
30% of patients actually do get better JUST from seeing some one in a white coat. maybe its a placebo, but the mind is a powerful tool. (or take advantage of) It is our perceptions that see reality. Ed Kasper LAc. Santa Cruz, CA (where almost no one wears a tie) As far as dress is concerned, I believe that it is a marketing decision... White lab coat says I am a scientist suit and tie says I am a businessman business casual says I am in a business that where i can't impress with dress kung fu outfit, beads and dashiki etc says i am a healer they see what you look like before you touch or speak so market yourself in a way that you feel comfortable then your patients will feel comfortable as well.
