Guest guest
Hi - I was wondering what general actions and formula types are typically indicated to quell post-surgery swelling (and of course speed healing)? (Alright, I'll be up front here... liposuction...) I would think tonifying kidney yang might be one thing, along with addressing jing. Is a 'downward flushing' kind of formula approach also of use when the body is holding onto a significant amount of water (edema)? (Or maybe even something like Fang Feng Tong Sheng San (siler and platycodon formula) - a 'release the exterior' treatment.) The other aspect of a surgical treatment like this is that it usually involves use of tight compression garments for several weeks. Many surgeons thing that yields better results and a smoother appearance, but I'd have to think in TCM terms it runs counter to the entire idea of smooth-flowing qi, etc. (There are some physicians who now dismiss the idea of compression garments after the first couple to few days.) Thanks.
