Guest guest
Hi all, Can anyone point me to any resources on the web or books/articles on chronoacupuncture? It seems to be a rather neglected aspect of CM. The only English language source I have id " Optimum Time for Acupuncture " by Liu Bing Quan. Thanks. Guest guest
Time and accupuncture are important. Many doctors wish they could have access to their patients on a 24 hour basis to monitor them and dipense the proper treatment. Sometimes in China and with other healers a patient will live with the doctor ina small out building or room. TCM doctors know that diseases have their cycles of bad times and benign times too. Native American healers would chronicle each patient and then at the proper time administer to them. Hot and cold are familiar ti Native American healers as well and a visit in winter to a warm teepee might include a cold stone bound around a specific place on the body to promote hot and cold balance. In TCM time is related to the Chinese method of keeping time. 12 hours in the day and 12 year cycles. How these cycles affect health and well being are always being studied. The Tao is constantly changing and different years and hours may be beneficial according to the hour and year of the patient's birth. Treating a tiger year person born in the rabbit hour may be confusing if treating when the monkey hour turns to the chicken hour. Each patient is different and getting to know your patient may give you a clue as to when to best treat him or her. Sometimes test points and pulses can help if you are looking for clues. Moxa at the best time is probably most crucial for a critically ill person. Each year is different as well and some good doctors are not afraid to wait untill the right year to treat someone. Like trying to enter the harbor when the tide is coming in. qichina <ChineseH wrote: Hi all, Can anyone point me to any resources on the web or books/articles on chronoacupuncture? Guest guest
Dear Al and Godfrey, On page 141 Knowing Practice The clinical encounter of Judith Farquhar there is a picture of a dr. Li Minzhong director of a hospital of Chinese medicine in a Shandong county town. the text continues to say that Li specializes in a form of Chinese medical practice that uses the analytical systems of the book of changes as a major resource... I think that this book (Farquhar) is a gem (one of my favourite books, if not the one, as it at least begins to penetrate the mysteries of mysteries...) Anyway, maybe we could write to her or you or... I have consider to write to her to see if she has materials that she could elaborate on and if she she's more people interested, well maybe better response...
