I need information on the use of moxa for

hypertension.

A friend told me that moxa on GV20(Bai Hui) is good

for treating hypertension.

Thanks,

Cecilia

Several different TCM imbalances can underlie high blood pressure.

Sorry, don't know what they are, and I'm hoping somone else can post

the information.

I do remember that Kidney Yang Deficiency is one of the possible

underlying Roots for one type of hypertension. I'm wondering if moxa

gets used in these cases since moxa frequently is used in acupuncture

to tonify Yang.

Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks.

GV 20 is one of the standard 12-20 points that are used to 'tune -up " a patient

and for diagnostic purposes. Once you get to know your patient these standard

points can be used to check up. It is possible that the little things we do like

stubbing our toe or scratching our arm or nose are the things that keep us in

shape in terms of our own self monitering systems. GV 20 and/or a nice head

massage can aid stress. Stress is usually taken in at the hands or feet and

mismanaged elsewhere.
