Guest guest
I understand that Kidney imbalance can result in tinnitis because the Kidneys open to the ears. But I don't understand the relationship between the Liver and ringing of the ears. Why do some Liver disharmonies result in tinnitis, if the meridians don't go near the ears? Thanks, Jessica

Liver Qi stagnation (leading to heat) or Liver Yang Rising or Liver Fire can all generate wind. Wind rises into the Gall Bladder channel. The GB channel enters the ear, end of story. Interesting side note: The Small Intestine channel also enters the ear and is also implicated in some cases of tinnitus, but which ones? How is SI channel tinnitus different from Liver or Kidney? Liver type tinnitus usually arrives secondary to anger in all its myriad manifestations (i.e. frustration, impatience, etc.). However SI channel tinnitus arises from excessive joy as is consistent with its fire element designation. In my personal experience, the SI channel that enters the ear can cause tinnitus in the case of too much happiness while the Liver's (GB) type is induced by anger. -- Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. -Adlai Stevenson
