I am currently working with a 15yr old female who injured her elbow pitching

softball. Now she is experiencing a reoccuring injury pattern and the injury

onset, though not always linked to pitching, seems to consistently be the day

before her first day of menstrual bleeding. Her menstrual cycle is irregular

and once she starts bleeding she has seven heavy days of bleeding with cramping

during the first two days. Her tongue is pale & wet, her pulse is choppy &

wirey. Can anyone help me see the link between the period and the injury?

Thanks.

Hi Lisa - I don't anyone has responded to you about

this, and I'm sorry for not responding more promptly.

Generally speaking, she has a blood deficiency which

is exacerbated by the menstrual flow (blood loss).

Since the blood deficiency is worsened at this time,

that means that injured muscles, tendons etc do not

get appropriate blood supply and injuries will seem to

pop up again.

Make sense? Let me know,

Hugo
