Guest guest
I have recently been experimenting with antiviral herbs. I am wondering if just as using antibiotics will encourage mutations in bacteria creating resistant strains, will the use of antiviral and antibacterial herbs produce the same type of mutations? Guest guest
In one of his books, " Herbal Alternatives; Natural Alternatives for Treating Drug-Resistant Bacteria " pub. Storey Books, Stephen Harrod Buhner suggests that because plants are more complex than antibiotics they might offer more promise when bacteria mutates. An antibiotic's active constituent is what it is. Stephen suggests that the complexity of plants (garlic; " at least 33 sulfur compounds, 17 amino acids and a dozen other compounds " ) makes it harder for the bacteria to figure out what its up against. This book of Stephen's is written from a Western herbalism point of view. In other books Stephen has written he suggests plants to have spirits capable of relationships to assist the healer. I am quite gullible to this concept also. Guest guest
As the planet evolves all living organisms evolve as well. The clue is " living " when we isolate out certain constituents to say this is the active part of the plant or mineral to get a patent and then look to the test tube to find out how we can produce it synthetically we are not using nature as it was intended to be used. Just as all of the viruses and bacteria's are mutating so are we and also the plant and mineral kingdom. At least that is my belief system. If left in the whole I feel as medicine they would keep up with the mutations. Unfortunately with all of our synthetic man made chemicals, drugs, and artificial dis-eases that it is harder for mankind to keep up with some of the mutations at hand. I do not feel it is impossible to keep up.
