Guest guest
Susie, Actually, the sources for all 3 people are the original acupuncture texts- I just find it laborious to type them all out. Lei Jing Tu Yi Pu Ji Fang Qian Jin Yao Fang Qian Jin Yi Fang Shen Ying Jing Yi Xue Gang Mu Yi Zong Jin Jian Ci Jiu Xin Fa Zhang Shi Yi Tong Zhen Jiu Da Cheng Zhen Jiu Da Quan Zhen Jiu Feng Yuan Zhen Jiu Jia Yi Jing Zhen Jiu Ji Cheng Zhen Jiu Quan Sheng Zhen Jiu Zi Sheng Jing Those are the books from Philippe's research- I can ask Robert to quote his. Deadman's are quoted in his book- also classic texts. Susie, I think when you accuse someone of being biased... 1. It's a personal attack 2. It's not saying much because no one is totally objective I'm just advocating that we attempt to get some objectivity, isolate some of the many variable at work in our practice, and get a more thorough idea, and different views of what is going on so that we can better serve our patients. My bias is that I trust traditional sources more than modern " made up " stuff- especially when that made up stuff may be made up by someone without a thorough understanding of the CM that has gone before. Philippe said he believes that our generation's job (in the west) is to translate and to learn. He said he thought it would be premature to innovate. I know that's hard to avoid, because it's fun and it's hard to not want to make your own mark on the medicine... But the point is that there is a lot of CM that needs to come through the sieve of translation... and some of what we've had available to us is not jiving with what other translators of CM find in the classic sources... so we have to look at that and find out why. Just because someone makes up something new doesn't mean it's wrong- I just am more suspicious of it than the CM that comes from sources hundreds or thousands of years old. That's my bias ;-) B Brian Benjamin Carter Editor, The Pulse of Oriental Medicine Columnist, Acupuncture Today The PULSE of Oriental Medicine: Alternative Medicine You Can Understand http://www.pulsemed.org/ The General Public's Guide to Chinese Medicine since 1999... 8 Experts, 100+ Articles, 115,000+ readers.... Its funny that you talk about scientific > exploration and yet you may not be so rigorous yourself. You bias seems > quite obvious to me having read your stuff around various email groups!
