Guest guest
Just to add to the discussion and FYI, I was taught that Bai Qian was " the " ma huang substitute. Anyone else heard that one? B Brian Benjamin Carter Editor, The Pulse of Oriental Medicine Columnist, Acupuncture Today
Guest guest
mahuang substitue is xiangru, not baiqian.xiangru is called " mahuang of summer " ,which means you can use xiangru instead of mahuang in summer .mahuang is improper for summer as some literals convey. As far as baiqian is concerned,it is good for reloving phlegm and regulating Qi.its function is quite different from mahuang. In modern clinical practice,as a matter of fact, xiangru is not so widely used as people expect.mahuang is a very effective herb if correctly used together with other herbs.we can fully use its function. so why use xiangru instead?
