ma huang substitute

Just to add to the discussion and FYI, I was taught

that Bai Qian was " the " ma huang substitute. Anyone

else heard that one?

mahuang substitue is xiangru,not baiqian.xiangru is called " mahuang

of summer " ,which means you can use xiangru instead of mahuang in

summer .mahuang is improper for summer as some literals convey.

As far as baiqian is concerned,it is good for reloving phlegm and

regulating Qi.its function is quite different from mahuang.

In modern clinical practice,as a matter of fact,xiangru is not so

widely used as people expect.mahuang is a very effective herb if

correctly used together with other herbs.we can fully use its

function. so why use xiangru instead?
