Guest guest
Waiting until one is thirsty is a bit late to be digging a well for water but, would anyone here care to explain the TCM theory with regards to the flu virus that impacts the digestive system (like the Norwalk Virus that has been attacking cruise ship vacationers). and, though its beyond my scope of shiatsu practice, what I might mention to stricken clients when they call to cancel(beyond for them to stay home and drink lots of fluids). It often falls into the pattern of dampness attacking spleen/stomach. In my practice I've seen it manifested as ainly a deficiency condition which erupts after some sort of abuse - over-eating, rich foods, alcohol, over-work and carelessness with exposure to the elements. For prevention I recommend taking care of all the above, drinking ginger tea once a day (or mint for those who may have heat patterns) and having HuoXiang ShengQi / Lophanthus AntiFebrile on hand. The patent would be taken upon any sign of impending doom such as chills, queasy stomach, excess salivation, fatigue esp upon exposure to the wind, damp, or cold. > and, though its beyond my scope of shiatsu practice, > what I might mention to stricken clients when they > call to > cancel(beyond for them to stay home and drink lots > of fluids). Once the vomiting has started, the HuoXiangZhengQiTang (soup/tea) is the best thing, but it's still too late. It would be bst, I think, to be well protected from the evironment, eat moderately, sleep well, protect oneself from overwork (i.e. do whatever necessary to minimise the effects of overwork) and to drink ginger / scallion / mint soups.
