Guest guest
The person may be nervous, or (as I've had in some cases) doesn't get a chance to talk to people (lives by themselves or with others who don't listen), or that could just be their nature. Talkative. <G> One way to refocus the session (example - accupunture) is to ask them to FEEL the energy, and see if they can sense the flow through their body. It helps them to realize there is a flow of energy, and also to help them find it. Hope this helps. Very basic things. Observe all you can, and list the symptoms and signs here. Pay attention to any color tones in the complexion, in the tongue, etc. Is the voice strong or weak? Are movements and speech quick or slow? Anything else that caught your attention? But only if you want to. Victoria

Guest guest
I remember one of my first year instructors saying that excess talking was Spleen related. I checked a few books and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know of/recall a connection? Guest guest
I'd look at the heart first too, as Brian mentioned earlier. Also, this person may be expressing a deficiency of sorts. Some people can really grab a lot of qi from you in the form of your attention. Here's an article that kind of describes that: http://dir.salon.com/health/feature/2000/10/30/vampires/index.html Kit wrote: > > I remember one of my first year instructors saying that excess talking > was Spleen related. Theyhelp the restless rising of Yang type Qi to descend into the lower Yin part of the body. They grab restless heart Qi and carry it below. Gall bladder deficiency can show as low self-confidence. Stomach deficiency can show as desperation and falling apart. These signs bring up the restlessness in the heart to try to do something about it. It can come through as not-talking and talking a lot. You would probably find that the person has moments in their life when they shut out the world and don't want to talk to anyone. Ed

WHATS UP WITH ALL THIS > WIND??? > ANY IDEAS? > I DO NOT DO diagnosis it is outside my scope...somebody buddy hep me ok. What's up? Its not that easy to explain. Could be too much energy in Heart (yin Fire) but since diagnosis is outside your scope of practice, what difference would it make to have this sort of information? Do your Reiki where scanning tells you to and keep in mind that all Meridians connect at some point. What you are doing might not by TCM theory be the most efficient use of energy but so what. Since you've mentioned the talking, I have a gut feeling that whatever is causing the chatter could be influencing your own energy during the session. There are Reiki ways to protect yourself from this. I imagine there are Reiki lists to get an official reiki answer. For a beginning shiatsu student who knows next to nothing about diagnosis (while they still focus on getting their own body to respond to the craft) there are arbitrary ways (short of using a sock and some duck tape) to deal with a client's nonstop talking during a shiatsu session. 1. Ask the receiver to please be quiet so you can concentrate. Since you've already let them experience talking during a session, tell them you are going to take THIS session to a higher level and really need them to be verbally quiet. or 2. Ask the receiver to lie supine and put a flax seed eye pillow over their eyes. eyes; Wood. Wood feeds Fire. (Fire = Heart) 3. Ask the receiver to lie supine, put a piece of cloth like a handkerchief over their face and put a flax seed eye pillow over their eyes. and all the while, ask the receiver to focus on their breath all the way down to their abdomen, prolonging the exhale longer than their inhale (kicking in their parasympathetic nervous system). They could either put their own hands on their abdomen to " watch " how their breath fills the area or put a buckwheat hull pillow on their abdomen so they feel a resistance to aim the breath into. Breath loudly with them (not only to synchronize with them but to help them feel less like an idiot following the suggestion). 4. Ask the receiver to lie prone (face down into the cradle of your table). Its harder for them to talk with their face in a face cradle. Its easier to not hear what they are verbally saying if they a talking to the floor. Some hatha yoga traditions use a pillow of rice at the abdomen while lying in prone to get the practitioner to focus on hara while breathing. If touching the receiver's body isn't beyond Reiki scope of practice. 5. before you scan, hold the receiver's feet. 6. before you scan, hold the receiver's feet with your thumbs touching at Kidney # 1. 6+. Go in deeply at Kidney #1 then back off until you feel the buzz in your own hara and then just hang out. Oops! shiatsu. sorry, Penel
