The appendix: Western v. Eastern function

I have a class in nutrition this semester and we are

talking about various organs. One particular organ I

have a question about is the function of the appendix

in TCM. I have heard that if you remove the appendix

from a TCM standpoint their can be problems later with

fighting infections. Anyone have any thoughts on

this? My teacher said she would also be interested to

here the TCM view on this.
