Interestingly, internet searches in this item bring up a number of

ginseng dealers for whom red ginseng tail are a commonly

stocked item, but no particulars about their use. They're pretty

common in the herbariums in Chinatown here in NY. Usually an

on-the-shelf item, for shoppers to pick up easily, rather than the

more esoteric and specialized stuff behind the counter. So there

must be enough customers in the know to make it worth

occupying store space with Tails. One of these days I'll have to

ask at the store.

The Herbalgram article examined all varieties & parts of ginseng

(red, white, tienchi, siberian, and their parts) purely for saponin

concentration, but there's obviously more to the issue than that

alone.

Red ginseng tails, though quite long, are not as expensive as

the roots, and it may just be a cheaper form of 'seng.

On the flopside, I've also read that there's a belief that different

parts of the root corellate with different parts of the body. So tails

would work for legs, branch roots for arms, central root for torso.

Personally this sounds a little superstitious.

Cheers,

S
