Hi! hey, you're in Toronto!

Ok, to the original poster:

From my p.o.v., the key point is to accurately

achieve a pattern diagnosis, differentiating clearly

and prescribing fluidly - I mean that the formula /

treatment is changed as often as necessary. In other

words, zhu sha is prescribed only as long as its

indicated symptomology is present (usually heart fire

-insomnia w/ nightmares, irritability, manias, heat

ulcerations on hot tongue etc). As soon as that

symptomology disappears, the prescription of zhu sha

stops. Then again, this is how every herb should be

prescribed, no matter how 'benign'. " Intelligent and

perceptive action " . Trying to avoid doing things

purely out of habit.

Another point is that " toxicity " is almost always an

issue of " too much " rather than something being

plainly and unchangeingly poisonous. There is a

certain level of mercury which must be present in the

body, just as there is a certain amount of fluoride,

and I'm sure, of just about everything else, including

poo. The idea,I think, is to prevent an overdosage by

being aware of what the indications are and conforming

to the experientially proven doctrine while also being

aware of changing environmental conditions. i.e.

potentially raised mercury levels in the environment.

All that said, it would be useful to get our hands on

the books (which are in chinese) which document

overdosages of chinese herbs - even though these

adverse reactions must always be viewed in light of

the patient's pattern diagnosis and therefore rely on

a sound understanding of chinese medical theory for

their proper understanding and interpretation.

Did any of that make sense?

A question now:

I've encountered many patients with concerns of heavy

metal poisoning. Most of them present with some

variant of yin and spleen weakness or severe liv

congestion / stagnation.

1. Does anybody have the symptomology associated with

the various heavy metal poisonings?

2. Anybody willing to share a case study of a real

heavy-metal toxic patient?

Thank you,

Hugo

Hi Hugo,

Maybe, at this point in time, consideration is with the

miners that are exposed to dangerous levels ( " too much " ) to

supply a demand. ....remove the demand.... provide safety for

this number of human beings.....

Hi Kit :)

Of course we shouldn't create a demand for tiger

bones or zhusha or whatever. I just don't think that

has anything to do with the effectiveness of these

medicinals, which is what I was referring to.

I don't use zhusha/tianwangbuxin patents, and almost

zero animals products in my practice. That doesn't

mean I don't recognise how effective these medicinals

can be.

Bye,

Hugo :)
