Guest guest
Dear Victoria, Last Friday, I went to the Doctor of TCM, and acupuncturist. When I got there, I had to fill out some forms with questions, etc. When she came in she asked me about my symptoms/etc and then looked at my tongue and then took my pulse on both wrists. I told her I was interested in dietary therapy. She asked me what my diet is, I said wheat, cheese, some beef, chicken, candy bars, potatoes, some veg and fruits ( but I can't eat a lot of fiber because of loose stools). I asked questions but since I don't know a lot I'm really not sure what all this means. Please clarify and give any suggestions you may have!! Thanks! She said 2) problems: I had yin deficiency - empty fire. Also have phlegm energy block. For the Yin deficiency, she said I was not getting enough cooling foods. I need to eat Yin foods and black foods like black beans and black sesame seeds. For the phlegm energy block - it is an accumulation blockage, related to spleen (I think she said). I shouldn't eat wheat, corn, sugar, dairy, yeast, gluten. Also I need to eat low fiber vegs? But she also said I needed protein. I tried to keep asking about what foods I could eat and here is a list of what she said. black beans, black sesame seeds, fish ok, turkey-some ok, duck-some ok, free range beef-occ, basmati rice(white ok), rye, spelt, millet, almond butter, napa cabbage, bok choy, carrots, well cooked peaches, apples, pears, dates, I asked her about oil - she said to try canola oil. I find that oil doesn't agree with me much - I get warm and pimple breakouts which I normally do not have much of. I asked her about which acupuncture points she would use. I didn't get specific ones, she just said something about the gallbladder, liver, spleen and a kidney one. Since my neck is so sensitive she used points on other points of the body. Since I don't have a book on the points, I will describe them - there were only 10 - 5 of the same on each side. 1st point - top side of elbow about 1/4" past where the crease ends when your arm is folded in. 2nd point - on the top of the hand a little past where the bones meet of the thumb and first finger. 3rd point - under the kneecap but more towards the inner/underside of the kneecap. 4th point - follow this point down the leg and about 1/2 way to my foot. 5th point - on the top of the foot where the bones of the big toe and 2nd toe meet. The treatment did not hurt but I'm dealing with headaches, neckaches & muscle spasms - I'm dealing with the dizzy problems. Also I have stomachaches. I have appointments scheduled for Tues and Thurs for more acupuncture treatments but hope I can go with this dizzy problem. Any suggestions! Also I bought the Book of Jook and the Tao of Nutrition. Thanks for your help! Take Care, Sharon Faith Hill - Exclusive Performances, Videos, more faith.
Guest guest
Hi Sharon, > She said 2) problems: I had yin deficiency - empty fire. Yin Deficiency is Deficiency Heat. There is not enough Yin to properly cool the body. " Empty " is another way of saying " Deficiency " . >Also have phlegm energy block. I'll be posting some on Phlegm. The Phlegm is interfering with Qi flow. > said to try canola oil. I find that oil doesn't agree with me much - I get warm and pimple breakouts which I normally do not have much of. You'll be getting some fat from the almond butter. It may be ok to forgo oil. >1st point - top side of elbow about 1/4 " past where the crease ends when your arm is folded in. I can't tell from the description what some of these points are. Perhaps some of the acupuncturists on the list can. The first may be Large Intestine 11 (if the point is on a line with the crease). Or, it may be LI 10 if the point is below where the crease ends. I'll do a separate post on LI 11. Regarding the second point: If it's in the webbing of the hand (on the side toward the fingers where the bones of the thumb and ring finger meet, this may be Large Intestine 4. >The treatment did not hurt but I'm dealing with headaches, neckaches & muscle spasms - I'm dealing with the dizzy problems. Also I have stomachaches. Did the headache, neckache, spasms, and dizziness get worse after the treatment? Stay the same? Improve slightly? Be sure to tell your acupuncturist what happens, especially if anything worsens. Victoria
Guest guest
Didn't see anyone else post on this, so I will briefly... --- victoria_dragon <victoria_dragon wrote: > Hi Sharon, > >1st point - top side of elbow about 1/4 " past where > the crease ends > when your arm is folded in. Liv 3 These point form a basic treatment for waking the body (LI 11,4 and St 36 and Liv 3), Clearing deficiency heat (LI 11,4), Tonifying Qi and Digestive Qi (St 36), Resolving Phlegm (St 40), and Decongesting the Liver (Liv 3). It's possible that St 36 and St 40 are Sp 9 and Sp 6/Liv 6 if on the inside of the leg.
