Note, however, that the places which gave this information failed to cite any Chinese sources, so I can't really vouch for it's legitimacy. The idea of color being modified depending on Yin or Yang aspect seems appropriate, but I'm not sure about the color scheme. As to possible reasons for the correlation with Yin Fire. The Fire element seems appropriate to me, as the " brain of the Shen " as I like to think of it (the Shen refered to when talking about dividing the larger concept of Shen into the 5 Shen-tyes of Shen, Zhi, Hun, Po, and Yi) resides in the Heart, which is a Fire Organ. The Yin correlation I am personally unsure of; I always thought of Shen as having a more Yang aspect to it's nature... However, I have the feeling that this issue is more complex than it appears, and there could possibly be very good reasons for the Yin association. When the Shen is visualized as being Purple, when is it particularly considered as Purple? When it is at rest, or when it is being circulated? Jing as Yang Fire seems like an odd choice. Perhaps activated Jing? Then it would correlate to the " Ministerial Fire " of the Mingmen perhaps. Then Yang Fire seems like a very sensible choice.
