Most of the work I have seen on the relationship between colors and

the elements, meridians, etc., seems to fall into the realm of Feng

Shui or Chinese Astrology.

However, the information out there about this seems somewhat jumbled

and contradictory. From what I can make out, the extra colors besides

the traditional five have to do with more detailed divisions of the

five elements, such as what one gets with the ten stems, or the bagua.

Joseph Yu (http://fengshui.freewebsites.com/about.htm) made the

following color associations:

Water: Black, Dark Blue

Wood: Green

Fire: Red, Orange, Purple, Pink

Metal: White, Golden, Silver

Earth: Brown, Yellow

Others have additionally associated Wood with the color Azure and

Brown, Fire with Peach and, Metal with Gray and Mettalic, and Earth

with Beige, Cream and Tan.

I have seen it suggested that Purple is the color of Yin Fire, while

Red is the color of Yang Fire, that Yellow is the color of Yang

Earth, while Gold is the color of Yin Earth, That White is the Color

of Yang Metal and Silver is the color of Yin Metal, that Black is the

color of Yang Water, and Gray is the color of Yin Water, and that

Green is the color of Yang Wood, while Blue is the color of Yin Wood.

Also D.H. Can den Berghe wrote a paper on the color associations of

the Trigrams (http://www.fourpillars.net/pdf/colors.pdf) which really

doesn't agree with any of them.
