Guest guest
Dear Victoria: How do you get the blood to move if you have blood stasis in the neck area? Say if it is from wind cold Sometimes it is easier to understand the pain or discomfort that comes from Qi Stagnation when it is compared to that of Blood Stasis. In Blood Stasis (Blood not moving properly), the pain is constant and stays in one place. The pain of Qi Stagnation waxes and wanes, and moves around. Think gas pains (though Qi Stagnation is not limited to gas pains). The pain of Blood Stasis is sharp and differentiated. One can point to exactly where it hurts - the same place it hurt yesterday and where it's going to hurt tomorrow. Qi Stagnation pain is more diffuse. It is impossible to draw a boundary around it. It's more spread-out. It waxes and wanes in intensity and moves around. Take Care, Sharon New DSL Internet Access from SBC
Guest guest
Dear Al & Junya: In regards to the following e-mail, I thought I'd relate some of my history. I actually started fainting when I was about 12 - I've passed out around 12 times in my life but most of my life I've felt like it. When I was young I thought it was hypoglycemia and I'm sure that my play a part. But mine is definitely related to movement. Since I have chronic neck spasms and headaches, my neck area is hypersensitive. I can't stand any pressure at all on it. I'm dizzy a lot and when I move my neck more it's worse. I can hardly stand the pressure of walking - it hurts my neck. So when someone tries to pull, push, massage anything on my neck, it can cause me to pass out. It seems like I usually feel nauseated or get a cramp like in my stomach before I faint. Besides the standard western medical treatments and Mayo Clinic through the 20 years I've been to physical therapy, traction (terrible), massage (made it worse), 3 series of treatments from different chiropractors. After the last one cracked my neck and worked on me, I walked out into the waiting room. Fortunately my husband was there and as we were talking to the receptionist he said my eyes looked funny (glassy or something) and the next thing I passed out. I'm glad he was there to catch me!!! They brought me back into the room until I came to. I wonder if it scared any of the other patients?? Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the typical case, but this is my story. Anyhow, I don't mean to generalize about chiropractors, but> the description of passing out sounded familiar.I'm not exactly a fan of chiropractic either, but in all fairness, acupuncture too has its share of fainting patients. We call it "needleshock". Biomedicine calls it the "vaso-vagal reaction" which isessentially similar to those who "faint at the site of blood" eventhough there is no blood envolved generally in acupuncture treatments. For more, please see:http://gancao.net/phpreactor/htdocs/forums/browse.php?fid=47 & tid=88-- Al Stone L.Ac.<AlStonehttp://www.BeyondWellBeing.comPain is inevitable, suffering is optional. There is a class of herbs called Herbs that Regulate Blood. This class is subdivided into two classes: Herbs that Stop Bleeding and Herbs that Invigorate Blood. Herbs that Invigorate Blood. In addition, Qi Gong exercises help Blood (and Qi) to move. > Say if it is from wind cold The class Herbs that Dispel Wind-Dampness (many also work on Cold). Certain acupoints (depending on the meridians affected). Victoria
