Guest guest
Dear Victoria, I'm so glad to hear that you are much better following the TCM path. Maybe there is hope for some of the rest of us. I have had my neck pain, headaches, etc.for about 21 years. Since the Doc doesn't really know what else to do, the next thing they want to do is for me to go to a pain clinic. I have already tried so much, even been to Mayo Clinic. - can't find anything. Do you have a website besides this mailing list? Are you a student or a practitioner or both?Student and teacher. I began to learn everything I could about TCM when I got some dramatic help for a long-standing (20+ years) medical problem (Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome). I'm not cured, but the longer I stay on TCM treatment and the more I learn, the more I improve. (The longer someone has been sick, the longer it tends to take to treat the imbalances.)Victoria Take Care - Sharon New DSL Internet Access from SBC

I have had my neck pain, headaches, etc.for about 21 years. I had headaches so bad a shot of demerol in the emergency room wouldn't stop them, only blunt them enough so I could sleep through the worst of the headache. They started when I was a teenager and got worse and worse over the years. I go into detail about them in some posts in the message base. It got to the point where I either had a headache developing or a full-blown one most of the time. When one got bad enough to go to ER, the ride was agony. By that time extreme nausea also had set in. My head hurt even more if I moved it any. I was overjoyed and amazed when I discovered acupoints that could knock one of these headaches out in seconds. A shot of demerol couldn't knock it out, but pressing on some points and applying heat to them could! And in seconds. I didn't figure out all the points overnight. The first two I discovered were by accident. I had slapped a heating pad over my lower back because I had been out working in the garden and didn't want my muscles to stiffen up. By that time I already had figured out that heat helped, but I had been putting the heating pad over my neck. That had helped a lot, and had cut down on the recovery time from the headaches (to a day or so from a few days). But putting it over my lower back did even more. (My headaches were due to Wind Cold in the Bladder and Small Intestine meridians. I gradually figured out other points to use, including Small Intestine 3. The acupressure and heat to selected points not only could knock the headaches out in a hurry, a regular program of acupressure reduced my tendency to have the headaches. The reason I recommend to the students on the list that they learn 5 Element Theory is that I was figuring out points to use based on 5 Element Theory. >Since the Doc doesn't really know what else to do, the next thing they want to do is for me to go to a pain clinic. I have already tried so much, even been to Mayo Clinic. - can't find anything. Hopefully the TCM will help. BTW, I also had bursitis in the hips. I had a reaction to the pills for it. The next step was cortisone shots in the joints. In answer to my questions about the shots I was told, " Yes, they hurt, " and " They are not always successful. " This is not TCM, but I tried castor oil packs. They worked better than the pills and without the side effects. At some point you may want to try a castor oil pack over the neck area. They reduce inflammation and infection and help lymph flow. > Do you have a website besides this mailing list? No. Victoria
Guest guest
Dear Mbanu, In regards to an earlier post you did on Chinese Dietary Therapy, I have a question on the following: 5. One's diet should consist of vegetables and grains as the foundation, with fruits and meats supplementing according to the seasons. I realize that everybody needs to eat a little different proportions according to their condition, but what are the approximate amounts to eat of each for a good balanced diet. Like 40% of calories of grains, 20% veg, 20%meat, 20% fruit???? Also, I eat cheese, but milk bothers me. Is dairy better to eliminate altogether??? Thanks - Sharon New DSL Internet Access from SBC
