Al, in Jin Shin Jyutsu the 6th element is called 'primal fire'. The term Primordial Sea comes from me as my understanding it. As many people understand the element for SJ/Pc to be a fire-water mix, Primal fire and primordial sea have the same meaning. It's that Primordial Sea pinpoints it to the quiet power that existed in the primordial soup. When the conditions were just right, life was able to appear. That magical moment which happened in the primordial soup has the expression of creation which is related to fire. So the terms Primordial Sea and Primal Fire both refer to the act of creation within the primordial soup. In the primordial soup, all things were in balance; temperature, chemicals, ions. Outside of that perfect balance was chaos. Chaos would destroy life. So since that moment, life has had to figure out how to keep that perfect balance of the primordial soup within our bodies. Otherwise when we venture out into the chaos, we would be destroyed. The body's way of carrying around the primordial soup within us, is by maintaining homeostasis within the interstitial fluids of the body. This fluids are primarily controlled by the hypothalamus. These interstitial fluids are primordial soup. San Jiao and the divergent of Pc both flow to the hypothalamus. This is another connection between SJ/Pc, the 6th element and homeostasis. Ultimately, the main function of the 6th element is to sustain the original power which existed in the magical primordial soup and insure that it exists within us. The chaos around us seeks to disrupt it. SJ's important function is to transport yuan qi throughout the body. This is the same idea as transporting the magic within the original primordial soup that created life.
