Guest guest
http://www.medinfosource.com/gt/g020208.html Even though this appears in the Geriatric Times, there is a lot of information for younger people. Even though the article says that the Mg from oral supplementation can be as good as that from IV supplementation, there are exceptions. I had to have the Mg IM injections. I simply could not absorb enough Mg from any oral form that I tried - even those with malic acid. It took a few years of twice-weekly Mg shots in the butt until I had improved to the point where I could absorb enough from the pills. (I also want to point out that I was severely sick, and had been sick for 20 years.) Today, we may know more about Mg so that less people need the shots or the IV Mg. But I want readers to be prepared for at least some cases in which injections or even IV Mg will be needed. I got some relief from the pills back when I was the sickest, but not enough. I was losing a lot of Mg in the urine - so much that my urine frequently would " burn " . Urinalysis at the time revealed high amounts of Mg. When I started on the injections, it was like the difference between night and day in the relief I got from Mg. My muscles felt stronger, I was less fatigued, and a lot of pain disppeared. I had gotten some relief from the breathing problems with the pills, but the injections gave even more relief.
