Hi,

let me try to explain how it works:

Its all about trojan horses and virus.

Vic's email address is in someones (MrFriendly's)

outlook address address-book,

(like: I thought to myself, hey, maybe one day I'll ask her

something/maybe I received an email from her through -groups and

my outlook saved her addy witout me even noticing it)

MrFriendly received an email 3 weeks ago which had a file attached to

it

which outlook opened without asking/warning (a .vbs

(VisualBasicScript) for example.

This tiny script (program) told outlook to :

-execute it automatically (you ticked the 'dont ask me this question

again' box)

-spread this tiny script to anyone who is in MrFriendly's outlook

addresslist

-this is done by sending automatic emails to anyone on the list

-to make its roots untracable it takes any name from the list and

uses it as 'original sender' (clever huh?)

Solution:

-get a fresh virus scanner and check your system for trojan

horses/virus

-send a polite email to everyone on your addresslist that they should

check their system because someone abused their Outlook to spread a

virus (put this in diplomatic words)

This kind of virus keeps on living because it is hard to explain how

it functions.

I hope I could put some light into this.

Greetings Tay.
