Guest guest
" This is because damp has a sticky, cloying nature which makes it difficult to completely eradicate even when it is an exogenous pathogen located superficially in the surface tissues. One reason that this is so is that pathogenic damp tends to obstruct the very mechanisms which would normally act to resolve it: Spleen trnsformation and the flow of yang qi. Because of this, damp often quickly establishes a vicious cycle by which it grows ever stronger, and the processes opposing it become weaker, resulting in a frustratingly stubborn condition. " (Fluid Physiology and Pathology in Tradtional , Steven Clavey, p. 226.) One of the functions of Spleen Qi is to transport and transform water. If the Spleen is weak, this transporting and transforming function is weakened. This by itself is enough to create problems, but there is an additional factor. The Spleen hates wetness. It likes to be dry. If a weak Spleen is causing Dampness, the Dampness further weakens the Spleen. It's a snowballing situation, and snowballing situations tend to produce chronic illnesses. Guest guest
Hi, My TCM dr. says I have damp heat and wind. I wrote in earlier about having severe menstrual disorders and also had a blood clot (stroke) in my eye last year. He explained to me that the heat and the wind can cause the blood to clot. I also understand what you mean by the heavy feeling, I feel like there are large weights in my lower abdomen, upper legs, and back during ovulation and before menses. Lately, however I have also experienced some frequency and urgency with urination and even some incontinence. He says I have a kidney deficiency. I appreciate all your insights on these disorders, they have helped me understand what he is talking about. Could you give me more suggestions as to what herbs are safe for me to take, and other things I could do to help my problems,as I am only 25 and feel like I have a lot of living left to do. Thanks! victoria_dragon <victoria_dragon wrote: New! SBC Dial - 1st Month Free & unlimited access
Guest guest
> My TCM dr. says I have damp heat and wind. I'll be going into more detail on the way Damp teams up with other pathogens. >Lately, however I have also experienced some frequency and urgency with urination and even some incontinence. He says I have a kidney deficiency. Has he ruled out Damp Heat in the Bladder, or, is this in addition to Damp Heat and Wind. Which Kidney Deficiency is it, primarily Yin or Yang. (If one is present, the other is almost sure to be too but to a lesser extent.) > Could you give me more suggestions as to what herbs are safe for me to take, and other things I could do to help my problems,as I am only 25 and feel like I have a lot of living left to do. I'll be getting to the 3 principles and the 6 methods for getting rid of Damp. I'll also post some after that on herbal suggestions for Damp Heat and Wind. As soon as I can get my other books unpacked I will be going into detail about some of the martial arts formulas another reader posted here. We either close in 2 to 3 weeks, or, we'll be looking for another place. Long story. Just wanted readers to know I haven't forgotten. I left out 3 TCM books to read and study as we were moving across country. One of these is the Fluid Physiology and Pathology book. That's why I'm concentrating on the things covered in that book at this time. Victoria
