Guest guest
" Damp 'harms' yang because it opposes its natural tendencies to expand and move, and thus consumes yang energy. Damp's sticky nature blocks the flow of qi, so that lethargy, lassitude, heaviness and distention appears. " (Fluid Physiology and Pathology in Traditional , Steven Clavey, p. 226.) Yang moves outward and upward; Yin moves inward and downward. Damp is a Yin pathogen. Yin also is moist whereas Yang is drying in nature. Damp " consumes yang energy " . Dampness is one of those things which can trigger Yang Deficiency, in particular Spleen Yang Deficiency. Dampness also is one of the things that can cause Qi Stagnation. Think of the difference between moving through air and moving through water. Or moving through water and moving through mud. Mud is really turbid when compared to clear water. Its that 'turbid' characteristic as well as the heaviness that distinguish Dampness. Victoria
