Guest guest
This post primarily is for students on the list as it goes into a lot of detail. First, I want to point out that there can be a difference between frequent urination and profuse urination. It's frequent profuse urination which is associated with Kidney Yang Deficiency. The person not only goes to the bathroom a lot but produces a large quantity of CLEAR urine. In the latter stages of Yang Deficiency, after the person has gotten to the point that s/he's rarely drinking at all, the actual volume of the urine may not be that great, but it's still profuse in relation to what the person is taking in. In Kidney Yang Deficiency it often seems to the person that whatever s/he drinks is going straight through her/him (it is) and that s/he is putting out more liquids than s/he is taking in. S/he is. Dryness problems are setting in. In addition to losing what the person drinks, necessary water is being pulled from the tissues and the blood. It may be difficult to find a vein for a blood test, and the blood can be unusually thick. (Internal Yin Cold Predominating Over Yang also can cause profuse urination.) " Frequent urination " This refers to an obvious increase in the frequency of urination, which when severe can occur up to every fifteen to twenty minutes during waking. This condition is different from both 'nocturia', which is frequency only at night, and 'clear profuse urination', which may be frequent but is always clear and profuse, whereas 'frequency' may be clear or dark, and profuse or scanty. " (Fluid Physiology and Pathology in Traditional , Steven Clavey, p. 95.) The possible Roots of frequent urination are Urinary Bladder Damp Heat, Kidney Yin Deficiency, Failing Kidney Consolidation (Kidney Yang Deficiency), Lung and Spleen Qi Deficiency, and Liver Qi Blockage. I'll be going into detail in another post. Victoria
