Hi,

My question is what can I do now?

Some background info:

I have had something like moderate CFS / adrenal fatigue for over 5

years. Gradual onset of symptoms. The worst are sensitivity to cold,

insomnia, fatigue, sinus and nasal swelling/irritation and excessive

worry. I've been to the usual collection of healthcare providers,

looking for help. Most recently, I was going to a TCM practitioner

locally. Initially, one of the herbal formulas they gave me boosted

my energy and appetite. But that stopped working, and the acupuncture

treatments actually started making me more fatigued. I don't tolerate

the adaptogens (ginseng, astragalus, ashawanga) well. They boost me

up and tire me out, like caffeine.

Back to the present:

Earlier this month, while on a trip to New Mexico, I visited a (I

think) very good TCM doctor. She diagnosed my situation as follows:

1. Invasion of wind - heat.

2. Yin deficiency of Liver & Kidney. From this, Yang rising

(fire) causes my eye irritation.

3. Yang Qi deficiency of Spleen & Kidney.

4. Blood stagnation (a little bit).

She said 1 (invasion of wind - heat) is my " sinus infection " and 2 +

3 are related to my " constitution " . She said that I can work on 2 & 3

later on, for the longer term.

She gave me an acupuncture treatment (with Moxa sticks) that made me

feel better. Also, 14 days worth of ground-up herbs to cook up into a

3/day tea. I'm finishing the last of that today. She also listed five

Chinese Patent Medicines that would help me:

Ba Zheng Wan (tonify Qi + Blood) = " 8 treasure pill " ,

slightly warming.

Liu Jun Zi Wan (Spleen Qi deficiency + food retention

(digestion/assimilation) = " 6 gentlemen pill " , neutral to

very slightly warming.

Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan (yin deficiency heat), cool.

You Gui Wan (yin + yang), warm.

Bi Ming Gan Wan (nose, sinus infection, heat, toxicity),

cool.

She said that the Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan and the Bi Ming Gan

Wan would " replace " the herb packets - so maybe they have

the same or similar ingredients. I can't tell if the tea has helped.

The only change I've noticed is a slight sensation of patches of

extra body warmth, which comes and goes, starting in the afternoon.

In three weeks I have an apointment with a local Naturopath who

includes TCM herbs and acupuncture in her practice. Hopefully, she

can help me follow up on the New Mexico diagnosis - but I don't know

that yet.

Thanks and best wishes,

John
