the formula called " The Rock on Tai Mountain Decoction " ? I read that

this is supposedly a " very famous formula, that builds both Qi and

Blood, which is used to strengthen the body and prepare a woman for

conception " , but can't seem to find anything that says what's in it.

Hi Deirdre,

it's from 'JingYue Complete works' 1624,

used for patients with

habitual abortion caused by blood and qi deficiency.

(for SpleenKidneyDefic. and YinDef with blood heat use other formula)

TaiShan PanShi San

r Ginseng or Codonopsitis 15

r Astragali 15

r Angelicae sin. 9

r Dipsaci 18

r Scutellariae 9

r Rehmanniae Praep. 12

rh ligustici chuanxiong 9

r paeoniae albae 9

rh Atractylodes macrocephalae 9

fr Amomi 6

Semen Oryzae Glutinosae (a handful)

R Glycyrrhiza praep 6

As you see it is based on BaZhenTang (8 precious decoction) with

Scut. to 'stabilize' the fetus, Amomi to prevent sideeffects of

sticky tonics and to promote energy flow. I want to see the face of

your pharmacist when you tell him 'add a handful of glutinous rice,

please'... *grin*

The rock ON tai mountain?

I'd say the solid rock IN tai mountain.

tai-character looks like a lady with a baby between her legs, and

tai is the pronounciation of another character used in combinations

that translates as fetus/pregnant/birth. Paishan is a solid big

rock...

" but can't seem to find anything that says what's in it "

I went through 3 books, it was in my second chinese gynecology book

at last.

Please tell me where did you get that name/idea of this rare recipe?

And I feel guilty reading those yummy 'surgery' and 'ophthalmology'

recipes which are also still not translated. No, its more a sting in

the heart. Better drink some LongYanTea to drain my grief...

Greetings Tay (same tay as in taishan, thats why I HAD to answer this)
