Guest guest Posted April 25, 2002 Report Share Posted April 25, 2002 I asked my TCM doc about ear piercing / tattooing, he said in what he was taught, ear piercing is not seen as particularly good, as most ppl pierce in the lobe which contains some important points. Tattooing he said isn't as " serious " since there is only temporary " damage " to the area, where in a piercing, thats a perminent hole/damage. They are somewhat irritating on their own, so it is easier to rub and irritate the points. They also have a channel opening quality, which would probably also influence their function. I suspect the main reason they are used is that they are cheaper and easier to find in China than thousands of miniscule magnetic ball-bearings.
