Guest guest
Yang Deficiency and feelings of cold are a range. The more severe the Yang Deficiency, the more problems with cold. Very mild Yang Deficiency may be characterized by a person who hates the winter and prefers summer. Any slowness (speech, movement, thinking, etc.) may be so slight that neither the person nor observers notice it. Mild Yang Deficiency may be a person who in addition to prefering summer over winter (in most cases) may be a little colder than others and dress a little more warmly than others. This is a person who may wear a long sleeve shirt when others are comfortable in short sleeves or no sleeves. The slowness that accompanies Interior Cold may or may not be noticable to the person or observers. This is a person who frequently will be ok when others are complaining of heat. There may be some reluctance to get out of a warm bed on a cold winter morning. The heat in the person's house may be slightly higher than the usual, and the person may adjust the thermostat frequently. More serious Yang Deficiency is a person who very much prefers warmer weather over winter not only because of problems warming up but a very noticable slowness and difficulty in performing tasks that easily are performed in warmer weather. This person is very much aware of decreased abilities when it is colder. Everything is a struggle in cold weather. This is a person who may wear several layers of clothes in winter and even in the fall and spring. Getting out of a warm bed on a cold morning is a struggle and may be put off as long as possible. But this person can warm up via usual means - more layers of clothes, electric blankets, extra quilts, hot liquids, etc. Severe Yang Deficiency is characterized by difficulty warming up. This person may require soaks in hot baths, several layers of quilts over an electric blanket, etc. The slowness is very noticeable - especially to observers. The slowness is obvious even in warmer months. The Yang Deficient person may be too out of it to care. The heat in the house may be set as high as 75 degrees F or higher than 80 degrees. I'll cover Yang collapse in a separate post.
