Guest guest
This is from Collen DeLaney on the discusschineseherbs : Sometimes there is a situation where a patient is " too deficient to accept tonification, " which may be going on here. Tonifying herbs can be very rich and cloying and if the Spleen is too weak it will be unable to assimilate or process these very rich herbs. A paradox-- how can you tonify the Spleen if you can't tonify the Spleen? What you try is to first work on regulating the Qi, moving stagnation, and draining dampness, thereby taking more of a load off the spleen, then as things clear up, add toniying herbs into the formula, one at a time, in very small doses as tolerated. Hope that's helpful. --->Colleen
