Guest guest
When a TCM healer checks the pulse, besides checking 3 different positions on each wrist, the healer also is checking different " levels " . Some healers will check a superficial level (light or no pressure on the wrist), a middle position (more pressure applied) and a deep position (the most pressure applied). A hollow pulse is one that can't be felt in the middle position. It can be felt with superficial or no pressure or with a lot of pressure, but it's not there in the middle level. The significance of a hollow pulse is it points to hemorrhage. The person is bleeding somewhere in the body. Abnormal loss of blood isn't always obvious - like from a wound. The abnormal blood loss may be taking place deep within the body and the person or the healer not realize it until it manifests as the vomiting of blood or as black tarry stools. A pulse diagnosis also can indicate hemorrhaging which has not yet occured but is going to happen. " If the pulse is rapid and slightly Hollow it may indicate a forthcoming loss of blood.
