Hi, hydrocele is called 'shui-shan' in TCM.

I would suggest trying herbals as many other tiny diseases you might

have might disappear together with the shanshui.

There are 3 basic syndroms:

1) Cold-damp on a deficient kidney-basis ( the bodyfluid circulation

is stagnant)

-testes have cold-symptoms

-urine is clear and takes long (cold and deficiency symptoms)

-cold feeling and pain in back and knees

-can develop from a longstanding untreated 2) syndrom

therapy: BaojianDanguiSiniTang-formula

2) damp-heat in Liver-meridian

-testes and urine show damp and heat symptoms

use LongdanXieganTang-formula

3) accumulated clotted blood

-after tumourous/traumatic lesions

use HuoxueSanYuTang-formula

A wrong diagnosis might lead to side effects and in worst case might

aggravate it temporarily,

if you give nourishing and heating herbals in a damp-heat syndrom,

that would be wrong.

But actually any proficient doctor should differentiate easily

between 1) and 2).

Above information can be found in books which headlines are

translated as:

" Surgery in TCM " (ZhongYi Wai-ke), which is a WRONG translation, and

maybe thats

why there are still no translations of these kind of books.

You dont want 'surgery lessons' from 2000 year old books, do you?.

Wai-Ke includes: Boils, sores, snake bites, skin+hair+veneral

diseases, breast-tumors,

goiter, lymphnodules, proctology, andrology.

Now *you* find a good translation for 'Wai-ke', I suggest 'Outer'-

ology.

Greetings Tay.

My sons friend has same problem. He is needle phobic and won't take herbs. His feet were always like ice. I have been treating his hydrocel with moxa to the liver meridian. It is much smaller and according to him less painful.
