Hi,

I just joined your group to learn more about Chinese Healing. I will

state at the beginning that I am a novice and at the beginning of

learning (I'm sure I will mostly lurk), but I did have a question about

the use of Chinese herbs.

This is on behalf of one of my dogs, who has multiple inhalant allergies

and we've been on a quest to resolve this by improving his health from

the inside out. I do have an alternative vet who uses homeopathy and

Chinese herbs, and for the first time has prescribed the herbs to help

him with a particular bad time he is having with his skin--very

irritated, red, itchy, with many bare spots, angry looking. He looks

dry and feels dry. A human Chinese practitioner in my neighborhood says

he has very much fire, particularly his ears, and his kidneys are the

source. However, I have recently learned there is false fire and true

fire.

The herbs prescribed are a blend and are the following:

Bai Xian Pi

Ku Shen

Fu Ling

Jing Jie

Fang Feng

Ju Hua

Zhi Zi

Jin Yin Hua

Xuan Shen

Dang Gui

Upon researching these herbs, I find they are all to remove heat and/or

wind, some being anti-inflammatory, some being anti-bacterial, some

being diuretic. I know you cannot diagnose, but my question is do these

herbs draw out? Since taking these herbs (only for about 10 days now),

I do notice the diuretic effect, but I notice that for the first time

Buck has a smell of fermentation in his ears and his breath is very bad.

Could this be brought about by the actions of the herbs, or do I need to

consider something else?

I apologize for my ignorance, but I am interested in learning more about

Chinese healing, though I know it is a very long path I will be taking.

Thanks for any assist or guidance here.
